Join the Team Sydney group behind the Team Sydney Float in the Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday 2nd March for only $70 per person.
We are extremely limited for numbers by Mardi Gras, so will be taking a wait-list.
For a quick video indicating what our fun we have, here is a video from our 2017 parade entry
The Team Sydney theme this year is “Making a Splash”.
SYDNEY GAY AND LESBIAN MARDI GRAS PARADE 2019
The Mardi Gras Parade is the largest GLBTIQ Parade in the World and has become the highlight of the month-long, Mardi Gras Festival. It will take place on Saturday night, 2nd March 2019, in the City of Sydney through to Centennial Parklands [corner of Moore Park Road and Driver Avenue, Centennial Park]. There will be over 150 floats, with around 12,000 partipants, supported by 1200 volunteers, and over 1000 police providing crowd and traffic management, and event security. It is anticipated that there will be between 350 to 500 thousand bedazzled spectators.
We are proudly supported by Speedo, who have created a Team Sydney variant on their 2019 Mardi Gras swimwear. Each Team Sydney parade entrant gets one of these. Note:- no, you don’t have to wear this in the parade – but we we will group together all those who do, for a visually more impressive / cohesive look). As the uniforms had to be ordered months in advance, if we run out of these in your size, you will get the more generic Speedo version which is missing the Team Sydney logo.

Our (big) truck will be decorated by Speedo, and our hostess with the most-ess is Maxi Shield.
Our music and choreography is being finalised, and more information will be sent to float participants shortly. PLEASE practice the routine as many times as you can before the event – the visual impact to the crowd and the media coverage (including SBS) is dramatically improved with a well coordinated (and fab) routine.
Our meeting place and time for entry to the Start area will be sent to float participants shortly. The TS float marshall will distribute wristbands to individuals, or to a group rep if a block booking is made (and that group’s rep must manage those individual wristbands). There will be minimal work required this year to build and decorate the Float in our line-up position, and we can have a final rehearsal, before the Parade starts at 7:30 pm.
The timing of our Float within the Parade has not been provided yet by Mardi Gras. After the Parade, participants will need to skirt around the Entertainment district (lots of parade-related closures) or walk to the Party or watch the rest of the Parade. There is direct access from the post-parade End area to the Albert Tibby Cotter Bridge (over Anzac Parade), and toilets, water and food is available in that End area.
Participants are encouraged to wear their Club uniform top during the Parade, in order to present uniformity, as a significant image of our Float and the Mardi Gras Theme. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended. MG recommends no backpacks, but if you must then try to coordinate one backpack to share between several people so numbers are reasonable. A detailed Timetable with the summary of tasks on the day will be send to our float participants. Team Sydney is convinced that you will experience an exciting, memorable and fun Mardi Gras 2019!
Happy Mardi Gras !!!
