Team Sydney Float for Mardi Gras Parade 2017

Join the Team Sydney group behind the Team Sydney Float in the Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday 4th March for only $30 per person.

We are extremely limited for numbers by Mardi Gras, but are waiting on a decision from MG on an increase, so will be taking a waitlist.

The Team Sydney theme is “Connecting Clubs and Community through Sport”.

The Mardi Gras Parade is the largest GLBTIQ Parade in the World and has become the highlight of the month-long, Mardi Gras Festival.  It will take place on Saturday night, 4th March 2017, in the City of Sydney through to Centennial Parklands [corner of Moore Park Road and Driver Avenue, Centennial Park]. There will be 187 floats, with around 12,000 partipants, supported by 1200 volunteers, and over 1000 police providing crowd and traffic management, and event security. It is anticipated that there will be between 350 to 500 thousand bedazzled spectators.

By making this payment and purchasing an entry to the event you acknowledge that you are participating in the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade (“Parade”) of your own free will.

You agree that  your Club, Team Sydney Inc. (“Entrant”) and their respective agents will not be responsible for, and releases them to the fullest possible extent from, liability in respect of any:

(a) claims against the Club, the Entrant and their respective agents; or

(b) loss, damage, death or injury to the Participant or the Participant’s equipment or other property, arising directly or indirectly out of his/her participation, including but not limited to the rehearsals, workshops (including float construction), and the march in the Parade.

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade is a public event. Please note that your image may be recorded photographically or electronically during participation in the Parade. By your participation you consent to all images taken of you during your participation in the Parade (including rehearsal, the period of time before, during and after the Parade itself) being used in public broadcast or other media forums without your further additional consent being required.

Our music and choreography is being finalised, and more information will be sent to float participants shortly. PLEASE practice the routine as many times as you can before the event – the visual impact to the crowd and the media coverage (including SBS) is dramatically improved with a well coordinated (and fab) routine.

Our meeting place and time for entry to the Start area will be sent to float participants shortly. The TS float marshall will distribute wristbands to individuals, or to a group rep if a block booking is made (and that group’s rep must manage those individual wristbands).  There will be minimal work required this year to build and decorate the Float in our line-up position, and we can have a final rehearsal, before the Parade starts at 7:30 pm.

Our Float is expected to enter the Parade route at approximately 8:50 pm, to finish at approximately 9:30.  After the Parade, participants will be able to catch a bus on Anzac Parade or walk to the Party or watch the rest of the Parade. There is direct access from the post-parade End area to the Albert Tibby Cotter Bridge (over Anzac Parade), and toilets, water and food is available in that End area.

Participants are encouraged to wear their Club uniform during the Parade, in order to present uniformity, as a significant image of our Float and the Mardi Gras Theme. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.  MG recommends no backpacks, but if you must then try to coordinate one backpack to share between several people so numbers or reasonable. A detailed Timetable with the summary of tasks on the day will be send to our float participants.  Team Sydney is convinced that you will experience an exciting, memorable and fun Mardi Gras 2017!

Happy Mardi Gras !!!
